The Three Together policy (eat together, live together, work
together) applied to millions of party cadres and intellectuals, sent
down to factories and farms, to participate in manual labour. They were
to eat, live, and work together with the workers and peasants.
There was also a "enhanced" military version of the Three Together,
wherein cadres were sent down to military units to pratice the Five
Together with the soldiers (eat together, live together, train
together, labour together and have fun together).
